Modern research with MCSS
What is MCSS?
MCSS is the toolbox with which MatchingNeeds has configured custom research solutions for 25 years, becoming the market leader in Switzerland.
With MCSS-D, a tool tailored to the specific needs of Germany for digital research management is now available. It covers the functionalities required by German universities and addresses individual needs. This has already been confirmed to us by the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences and the University of Applied Sciences for Technology in Stuttgart through successful implementations.

Mastering Complexity
If your organization has complex requirements and processes, you want a web-based solution that is intuitive to use, flexibly supports your processes, is quickly implemented, and can be easily adjusted when your requirements change.
Sophisticated
MCSS provides a solid foundation for any IT solution (!), as it includes a management system for people and organizations, an architecture of interconnected, configurable subsystems, all linked by a sophisticated rights system based on status, role, and actions.
We developed MCSS to quickly and cost-effectively configure solutions that make our clients' organizations more efficient, productive, and transparent.
Simplicity
MCSS is the toolbox we use to deliver exactly what you need, and at a fraction of the cost of a custom IT project. Our rapid prototyping also significantly reduces project risks and ensures quick delivery.
Components ofthe Research Management System MCSS
The Research Management System MCSS is a framework in which individual modules can be easily linked together into an integrated system.
FoFö
Allocation of internal university research funds for seed funding / idea development / funding of open access publications / research stays and much more
Contract Management
Contract management encompasses the process from drafting the contract to linking the contract contents/milestones with project management - the payment processing.
Researcher Profiles
All researchers have their personal user profiles, which are customizable.
Evaluation Tools
With the evaluation module, users can individually evaluate the data accessible to them and graphically present the results / summarize them in a dashboard.
Grants Management
The Grants Management Tool supports the acquisition of third-party funding and the securing and processing of financing from third parties.
Publications
University bibliography / Open Access process / qualification works
Research Infrastructure
The research infrastructure is made transparent. At the same time, it is documented which infrastructure is used in which project. A connection to the carbon footprint is possible.
Annual Report / Accreditation
The accreditation module presents the current data according to the evaluation guidelines of the accreditation agency and shows the progress along the improvement axes/indices.
Project Calculation
Donor-specific project cost calculators based on German and Austrian collective agreements, which also compare internal university costs and maximum funding contributions. Examples: AZA, AZAP, ZIM, EU, DFG, investment banks.
Calculators adapted for Switzerland are also available.
Projects
Project Database / Project Management / Reporting
Partner Organizations
A current directory of all cooperation partners - linked with projects and research outputs.
Cockpit
The user-specific cockpits (researchers, research management, controlling, HR department, management board, etc.) serve as a starting point for daily work, are linked with financial and personnel systems, and provide users with all necessary information at a glance.
Ethics/IRB
The ethics/IRB module maps and supports approval processes in the areas of data protection, research ethics, animal welfare, etc. "Self-assessment" questionnaires are also available, which show researchers the legal requirements their project is subject to.
External Services
With the help of the AWL module, external services can be recorded and categorized individually. The system simplifies the evaluation of AWL as a basis for performance-oriented fund allocation (LOM) and makes transfer services transparent - if desired, also externally with the help of interfaces. This serves, for example, as a basis for performance-oriented fund allocation.
